If you’ve just installed a brand new installation of Windows Deployment Services, but your PXEboot isn’t working properly, then the fix is to disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.
These are the kinds of issues this will fix:
PXEBoot not kicking in at all
PXE-E55 Proxy DHCP Service did not reply to request on port 4011.
TFTP errors, retrying over and over again
Here are some more detailed instructions if needed:
- Open Control Panel
- Click Network and Sharing Center
3. Click on the Ethernet connection
5. Double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
6. Click Advanced …
7. Click the WINS tab
8. Click “Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP”
9. Click OK then OK again
Reboot your workstations and you’ll see the network PXE Boot kick in really quickly and consistently.
